1. We are a NO SMOKING ESTABLISHMENT which is strictly enforced. It is illegal to smoke on our premises.

  1. A credit/debit card (Mastercard, Maestro, Visa, Visa Electron, Visa Debit - we do not accept American Express), BACS payment or cheque/postal order non-refundable deposit equivalent to the first night’s stay is payable at the time of booking. In the event of a cheque/postal order deposit we will hold the room for 5 working days to allow for its arrival, after which time we reserve the right to re-let the room and the verbal contract between us and the Guest will be terminated. Payment for the full balance of the holiday booking is due on arrival and can be by cash or card payment only. Please note, credit cards incur an additional 2% surcharge, debit cards are free.

  1. Rooms and parking are available from 12 noon on the day of arrival, and must be vacated by 10.30am on the day of departure. All cars and vehicles must be removed from our car park by 10.30am on the day of departure and cannot be left on our car park after the departure time. The latest booking-in time on the day of arrival is 8pm.

  1. It is the Guests responsibility to ensure that all personal effects belonging to them are removed from the premises on the day of departure. If you suspect you have left something behind, please contact us as soon as possible and if the article is in our possession we will send it on to you by Recorded Delivery post. There is a minimum charge of £10 payable by cheque for this service, depending on the weight of the item to be posted. You are issued with a set of keys to the room and house on arrival, please keep them safe as lost keys are charged at £15 per set.

  1. The booking is a Contract between the Guest and Wheal-E-Mine and once your holiday has commenced full payment of the dates booked will be charged. The booking is non-transferable. In the event of cancellation the deposit is non-refundable. If the cancellation is within 21 days of the commencement of the booking, no refunds will be given and you are legally responsible for 2/3 of the value of the booking and we reserve the right to pursue this amount. We recommend Guests insure against cancellation. If a Guest fails to take up a pre-booked room before 8pm on the agreed arrival date and no communication is received, we will re-let the room the next morning and no refunds of the deposit will be given and we also reserve the right to pursue the unpaid balance under this Condition.

  1. St Ives is historically a fishing town with the houses on the hills around the harbour. Whilst we have lovely views because of this, it does mean that there is a steep walk from the town centre to our premises (approximately 400 metres). Please also note that all our bedrooms are on the first and second floors and we do not have a lift. As a result, we do not recommend Wheal-E-Mine to the very elderly or infirm. Should there be anything you feel we should be made aware of in order to ensure your comfort and safety whilst you are with us, please do not hesitate to inform us prior to booking.

  1. We reserve the right to cancel a booking forthwith and without liability on our part in the event of damage or destruction to Wheal-E-Mine by fire or other causes, or any other cause beyond our control, such as sudden serious illness or bereavement which shall prevent us from performing our obligations in connection with any booking. In such an event we will refund the deposit made but will have no further liability to the Guest.


  1. We offer free on-site parking to our Guests but cannot accept any liability for loss or damage to the vehicles or loss of any property from them, whilst they are on our premises. Cars must be carefully parked within the designated lined areas.

  1. Guests shall indemnify Wheal-E-Mine for any loss from or damage to the property or furnishings and equipment therein caused by the wilful act or default of the Guest or persons within their control. The Guest shall pay to us on demand the amount required to make good or remedy the damage, or replace any items missing from the premises.

  1. If in the opinion of Wheal-E-Mine the Guest or anyone staying with the Guest is not suitable to continue their occupation because of unreasonable behaviour, failure to comply with our booking conditions or damage or nuisance to other parties or ourselves, we are entitled to treat the contract as at an end and the Guest may be asked to vacate their room. The Guest shall remain liable for the whole cost of the booking and no refund shall be due. We do not accept pets of any description.


11. Complaints. We take personal responsibility for our Guests’ comfort while at Wheal-E-Mine and ask that we be informed immediately if something is not as expected so that we may be afforded the opportunity to put the matter right. If the Guest has a complaint concerning any aspect of the services provided by us then it is the duty of the Guest to inform us immediately, or as soon as is reasonably practicable and in any event before the termination of the stay. It is specifically agreed between the parties that failure by the Guest to notify us of any complaint in accordance with the timescale set out above will entitle us to refuse to entertain the complaint, irrespective of the merits of the complaint.
